Maren's Baby Blessing

Our sweet little girl was blessed almost a month ago on Jan. 27. It was quite a fun packed weekend. The weekend started with Grandpa Robinson finally getting to meet Maren when he flew in on Friday afternoon. We had a fun day hanging up and then went out to one of my favorite restaurants, Los Hermanos. The next day was really busy getting ready for the family dinner that night. My parents, the kids and I did some errands and then came home to start making all the food. We had Hawaiian Haystacks at the dinner. There was no way we could fit the 20+ people that came for the weekend in our little house so we went to the Church Building to have the dinner. It was super fun and Grandma and Grandpa Robinson and Thompson were a huge help in putting it all on. After dinner the Thompson clan went back to the hotel and some of us went swimming in the pool. It was really fun. All the kids had a blast in the pool. Then we came home and Grandpa and Grandma Robinson were waiting for us and had presents for Maren. They got us flowers and we are true blue in this family so of course she had to get some BYU memorabilia. The next day was Sunday, the big day. Our wonderful SIL Beth lent us a dress for her blessing. So we dolled Maren up and everybody was dressed in their Sunday best. We went to church, we even got there early and it was already packed! Little did we know there was another baby blessing that day. But it all went really well. Cody gave Maren a beautiful blessing. I of course started crying. We gave her the name Maren Marie Thompson. Maren is a family name from my Danish side and Marie is my middle name. Grandma Robinson pointed out the both names mean Mary, so her name is Mary Mary, but we don't care, we like it. After Sacrament Meeting we all went back to out house to say our goodbyes. There was a big storm coming so the Thompson's decided to leave as soon as they could. After they were all headed back up to Idaho Grandpa and Grandma Robinson had a few hours before they had to head to the airport. All in all it was a wonderful weekend. As Maren's mother I am so grateful she was able to be blessed by the power of the priesthood. It was such a tender moment to see all those worthy priesthood holders around her giving her a blessing. Like they were all there to protect her and help her through life as she tries to live to be worthy of those blessings. I wish my brothers could have been there to help give her this blessing. I am so grateful she has so many worthy priesthood holders surrounding her, it is a great support network. We are so grateful the Lord blessed us with this beautiful baby girl and we hope we can be worthy to be her parents.
